Front Cover
I used mainly two colours, blue and black, to make the colours stand out as well as being simplistic. The date will be in a grey colour as it is not really that important but will still be on the cover. The blue connotes calmness, while the black connotes a sense of elegance and mystery. The colours will contrast to draw attention to the text in blue. Having the subheads will show what the article is about before informing the reader of who the article is about.
I will only use two images on the front cover, the main image which is central to the cover and the barcode which is smaller. The image will be greyscale to contrast with the blue text but still show the black text effectively. The subject is not looking directly into the camera, but will still eye catching. There were no props used and the photo was taken outdoors, in the dark so the flash as used on my camera.
The text used on the front is all in the same font to make it appear fluid and simple. Each of the subheads offers a teaser to the reader to encourage them to buy the magazine. I have included the main conventions of a front cover such a masthead and barcode to make it look professional. The text is laid out to frame the main image and draw attention to the image.
Content Page
For the content page, the colour scheme will remain the same as the front cover to show continuity from the cover to the inside of the magazine. I will use 3 images of the band to show that its the featured article and the main focus of the magazine issue. The images are from the shoot and will be equally spaced out along the left side of the page with the actual contents listing on the right. In the top right corner is a subscription box which includes a link to the website. It is placed next to the masthead as that is the first thing the person sees, therefore the second will be the subscription box.
Double Page Spread
The double page spread will contain 3 photos, one taking up half of the page and the two others placed to break up the article and make the second column smaller. There is also a circle between the two columns which will contain a pull quote from the article, similar to the title. The title will be in the same font as the masthead with the article being in Times New Roman to make it appear neat and professional.
