Stage 2 Magazine Proposal Table

Describe your idea for the brief:
My magazine is going to be an ‘indie’ magazine which talks about music that isn’t deemed popular by mainstream media and help them get recognition. I am going magazine ‘Shade’. On my front page there will be the usual conventions and a main image of my friend as the cover.
Genre/ sub genre: list similar texts which have inspired your thoughts
The genre of my magazine will be various different genres, which are considered popular in alternative music scenes. Similar magazines like mine are NME and Q.
Target audience: gender/ age/ characteristics/ behaviour
My target audience are females who are aged between 15 and 25, but males may also read the magazine. The age I have chosen is the expected age for people to explore the alternative music scene.
Major conventions I will use
Masthead: The masthead will be white with a black drop shadow.
Main Image:
The main image will be central to the magazine and stand out against the rest of the text.
Sell Lines:
The sell lines will all the in the same colour with the subheads being a lighter colour. They will all border the main image, along the sides and the bottom.
Essentials:
I will have the date and issue number under the masthead. The barcode will be in top right corner.
Conventions I may subvert/ change/ not use
I may change the main image or the colour scheme if it does not look visually appealing and could possible repel somebody from buying the magazine.
Original images: what/ where/ what
My images will be photos of my friend that I have taken previously in various locations and with instruments. The photos will be taken n Newcastle and different houses.
Potential difficulties/ Plan B:
Potential difficulties could come in the form of images, which could be unfocused or low quality. To avoid this I will review images on sight or retake the photos at a later date.
