Potential area
where there might be a problem
|
How I will deal
with this problem
|
Front cover images
|
Potential problems with my
front cover images are that they could be unappealing towards my target
audience or some of the props could be construed as offensive. To avoid this I
will use as little props as possible as well as making the image universally
appealing. I will do it by making the image black and white in Photoshop.
|
Article Inside Magazine
|
Some potential problems with
the article inside the magazine is that it may not be realistic or may
include offensive content. To avoid this I will imitate a realistic interview
and do a draft before finalising the interview. Also the interview may appear
too formal or informal, so I will have an opening paragraph to establish the
setting and nature of the interview.
|
Images to accompany
article
|
The images that accompany the article could appear to be
different from the cover image as well as they may be unsuitable for the
article. To avoid this I will make the images appear to be from the same
shoot or make a statement during the interview about the change of settings.
To make them suitable to the article, I will make sure that is relatable to
the article and has captions to connect to them in moments in the interview.

Potential Problems with My Coursework
Wednesday, 27 February 2013
Stage 2 Magazine Proposal Table
Describe
your idea for the brief:
My magazine is going to be an ‘indie’ magazine
which talks about music that isn’t deemed popular by mainstream media and
help them get recognition. I am going magazine ‘Shade’. On my front page
there will be the usual conventions and a main image of my friend as the
cover.
|
Genre/ sub
genre: list similar texts which
have inspired your thoughts
The genre of my
magazine will be various different genres, which are considered popular in
alternative music scenes. Similar magazines like mine are NME and Q.
|
Target
audience: gender/ age/
characteristics/ behaviour
My target audience are females who are aged
between 15 and 25, but males may also read the magazine. The age I have
chosen is the expected age for people to explore the alternative music scene.
|
Major
conventions I will use
Masthead: The masthead will be white with a black drop shadow.
Main Image: The main image will be central to the magazine and stand out against the rest of the text. Sell Lines: The sell lines will all the in the same colour with the subheads being a lighter colour. They will all border the main image, along the sides and the bottom. Essentials: I will have the date and issue number under the masthead. The barcode will be in top right corner. |
Conventions I
may subvert/ change/ not use
I may change the main image or the colour scheme if it does not look
visually appealing and could possible repel somebody from buying the
magazine.
|
Original images: what/
where/ what
My images will be photos of my friend that
I have taken previously in various locations and with instruments. The photos
will be taken n Newcastle and different houses.
|
Potential difficulties/ Plan
B:
Potential difficulties could come in the form of images, which could
be unfocused or low quality. To avoid this I will review images on sight or
retake the photos at a later date.
